Brought our 1970s cabin back to life. Showed up when he said and finished early. Couldn't be happier.

Small handyman list and a hallway repaint. In and out, no mess, fair price. We'll be calling Matthew again.

What We Do

Four trades.
Done right.

Matthew has been picking up brushes, ladders, and tile saws across the Smokies for thirty years. Flying Colors is the team that keeps mountain homes looking sharp — paint, finish carpentry, pressure washing, and the small repairs in between.

How We Work

Four steps.
No surprises.

The same process every job, every home, every season. Walk-through to walk-out — clean, calm, and on the agreed price.

01

Walk & Quote

Free in-person walk-through. We measure, talk colors, prep needs, weather windows, and hand you a written quote — usually same day.

02

Prep Deep

Wash, scrape, sand, fill, prime, mask. The boring 70% of every job that nobody else wants to do. We never skip it.

03

Paint Sharp

Brush + roller + spray, whichever the surface deserves. Cuts that hold a line. Coats that flow. We come back the next day to inspect every edge.

04

Walk-Out Clean

Tarps folded, trim wiped, paint cans stacked. We do the final walkthrough with you — and we don't take payment until you're 100%.

Why Flying Colors

Six reasons
locals call us first.

— 01

30 years, one zip code

Three decades painting Western North Carolina homes. We know how mountain weather attacks paint — and how to make finishes survive it.

— 02

One crew, no subs

The team you meet at the quote is the team in the bucket lift the next morning. No subcontractor surprises.

— 03

Free written quotes

No estimate fee, no deposit to walk it. We measure, photograph, write the scope clean — and the price is the price.

— 04

Fully insured

Liability + workers' comp. Ladder work, two-story exteriors, second-floor decks — covered properly so you're never on the hook.

— 05

Color consults included

Stuck between two swatches? We'll help. Bring our color deck to your property and pull samples on the actual wall before you commit.

— 06

Four trades, one call

Need it washed before the paint? Cabinets refinished and a tile backsplash set? Soft fascia replaced? Painter, finish carpenter, washer, handyman — same crew, same quote, same week.

FAQ

Common questions,
real answers.

01How do I get a quote?
Email Matthew at Matthewallenminnillo@gmail.com — fastest way, usually replies inside a few hours. Send a few photos if you have them. Or call/text (828) 507-3951 for urgent jobs. We'll set up a walk-through and a written quote — free, same week most weeks.
02Do you do interior and exterior?
Yes — both, in any order. Cabinets, ceilings, trim, full interiors, full exteriors, decks, fences, log cabins, even chimneys and brick.
03What's your service area?
Sylva is home base. We work daily across Jackson, Macon, Swain, and Haywood counties — Cullowhee, Dillsboro, Cherokee, Bryson City, Waynesville, Franklin, Cashiers and all the small towns in between.
04How long does an exterior take?
A typical 2,000-sqft exterior runs three to seven days depending on prep, weather, and the height of the work. We'll lay out a written timeline before we start so you know what's happening which day.
05What paint brands do you use?
Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore are our daily drivers — both color-matchable to anything you bring us. Premium lines for exteriors that have to survive WNC winters.
06Do I need to be home?
For exteriors, no — we just need a hose bib and access to the property. For interiors, we work around your schedule and the rooms you need to keep usable.
07What if I'm not happy with the finish?
We don't take payment until you've walked it with us and signed off. If something needs another pass, we're back the next day, no charge — that's been the standard for thirty years.
